Heading north out of Rhode Island took about 15 minutes, and
we were heading towards our next destination state of Vermont. None of us have been to Vermont, yet we could
not find anything that was of great interest to anybody.
So, we decided to just enter the state (so we could "check it off" our list of states visited) and eat lunch before heading westward.
Lunch was eaten, and then we trekked onward! Our trip across the state was extremely scenic as we
traveled through the Green Mountain National Forest, reaching altitudes of around 2,000 feet. This is definitely a place where I'd love to visit in the fall.
We also passed by the Bennington Memorial Monument
Before we knew it, we were back in New York! However, this entrance into the state was
north of our familiar territory as we traveled on US-90 towards Niagara
Falls. We stopped at Cooperstown and
enjoyed a few days at the KOA, which is located in the deep country that happens also to be Amish country!
While we were aware of all the wonderful things available to
do in Cooperstown, including the Baseball Hall of Fame, we decided to just stay
put at camp and “camp.” We played games
and enjoyed the temperate weather – not missing the storms or humidity of the
South!
