What a really early start we had with the hour time
change! Leaving at 7 a.m., we left
Illinois and enjoyed the view of cornfields en route to Iowa. We
also got a kick out of a sign for a city called Kickapoo.
We saw miles and miles and miles and miles of wind turbines ..............
After a few hours, we crossed the Mississippi River into Iowa.

We drove due north through a plethora of fields and crossed back over the Mississippi again into Wisconsin.

We stopped at the Welcome Center and took a picture once the boys were done finding 4-leaf clovers in the grass.
(Eagle Scout has a knack for finding one almost instantly -- just like his paternal greatgrandmother! Youngest Child took the challenge to find some as well, and he found a 5-leaf clover. No picture provided. LOL!)
We were also surprised to see a phone booth there! How often do we see one of those anymore??
We headed back to Iowa ... over the Mississippi River again ... stopped and ate lunch in the
RV. However, our time in this state was waaaay
more than planned! We decided to change
our route so not to backtrack eastward at all, which is what we originally
planned on our itinerary. (The original plan was to cut up through Wisconsin (buy some
cheese) and then enter Minnesota and travel to the northern part of the state.
However, we wanted not only to enjoy a more direct, scenic route but
also to avoid entering Minneapolis/St Paul; and our new route would do that.)

We passed miles and miles of farmland in Iowa. Corn seemed to be the primary crop.
We stopped before dinner time at a very impressive KOA in Iowa. We even had a view of farm fields from camp!
(See the cornfields in the background??)
Thankfully, the temperatures dropped as well.
It was in the 60s again!
Happy me!
