We spent most of the day traveling across the state of
Montana from West Yellowstone to reach our next camping destination in
Idaho. As usual, the West provides an array of scenery! We traveled through the Gallatin
National Forest for most of the drive through Montana, enjoying the “Big Sky” rustic
country views.
That forest drive filled our grill with plenty of bugs!
Thankfully we didn’t need to
stop at any of the rest stops along the way because we noticed that the
bathrooms were outhouses! Oh my! [This is one reason why it is great to have a home with you when driving in places like this! ;-) ]
While traveling through the city of Butte, MT, we saw a
white “something” up on the mountain behind the city. Thanks to the technology of Smartphones, I googled
it and learned that it was Our Lady of the Rockies!
So cool!!

We also witnessed a new type of construction zone: a helicopter bringing in an electric pole to be planted in the ground. Waiting in that line was more entertaining
than the typical construction site ... and a bit dustier!
Crossing the last time-zone change line, we entered Idaho
through a mountain pass called Lookout Pass, which is special because it is has the "distinction" of being Exit 0.
The final leg of the trip to our campground was occupied
with everybody, except Mechanic Man, dealing with the puking poodle. Don’t know what caused it … eating something
outside or altitude/motion sickness. Whatever
it was, she felt better when we arrived
at camp and gave her a bath.
Mechanic Man and the boys finished cleaning up the rubber mat in the truck … and all was fresh
again in the delightfully dry and temperate mountains of Idaho as we all checked this state off our lists.
No wolves were heard when we were here. ;-) |
