While we are having a great time and enjoying having our home with us wherever we are, it hasn’t been perfect. After one month of traveling, other things have happened that weren’t captured in pictures.
1.
Poodle
managed to start eating College Girl’s eggs when she stepped away for a moment.
2.
Poodle used pillow for peeing.
3.
Food was flipped off edge of table by un-named
child onto me and College Girl (more than once).
4.
Grey water backed up into bathtub, soaking into
the basket of dirty laundry.
5.
Un-named child battles a large, buzzing bug and
falls into the crack between the folded-out beds.
6.
Mechanic Man encounters a black widow spider in
the water spigot at a park in LA.
7.
Poodle *almost* eats pancakes off the table.
8.
GPS didn’t cooperate – took us to a subdivision
instead of a restaurant once and to a ranch instead of the well-known Boy Scout
camp in NM another time.
9.
Un-named child flicks a huge, crawling bug off
the top bed to have it land on the other un-named child who was down below. Chaos began!
10.
Sink’s drain pipe under counter loosened, and
drain water ran underneath the sink and out the side of the motorhome. Mechanic Man thought we busted a water
line! (Problem was an easy fix and quick cleanup!)
11.
While cleaning up #10 above, Poodle makes
gagging noises and throws up. (Poodle’s
problem is unrelated to problem #10, though.)
12.
Mechanic Man drives 100 miles without strapping
down the lawn chairs on the back of Hitch Hauler as he usually does. Thankfully, nothing was lost.
13.
Our fifth wheel was purchased 2 miles down the
road from the biker-gang incident in Texas, and the next day a different group
of that infamous group of bikers were next to us at gas station in NM. At the same time, gas cap was left behind at
this gas station, and Mechanic Man had to duct tape the opening until we were
able to purchase a new one.
14.
Encountered a very scary RV campground … drove
in and out quickly. ;-)
15.
Tiny ants found their way into our motorhome and
apparently enjoyed it because they moved their entire colony up into the boys’
bed area … larvae and all! We concluded
that the heavy rains in TX caused them to move to higher ground.
16.
Mechanic Man dealt with some electronic problems
with motorhome that we thought would cause us some delays. Thankfully, he figured that out, and we are
still on the road.
17.
Change of altitude pressurized some plastic food
bottles in refrigerator, and un-named child opened ranch dressing with an
explosion all over himself. (I actually DID take a picture of that but
promised not to post it. ;-) )
18.
Brakes were smoking as we headed down the 7%
grade of mountain pass from eastern Colorado to western side. Sat on side of road for an hour to let them
cool before finishing … only to find we had only 2 miles of the grade
left. (All is fine, though!)
19.
I was stung for the first time in my life … by a
tiny sweat bee (at Mesa Verde when back in the camper). Waaa!
20.
Ants found us again … this time in a house in
(dry) California. Thankfully, it was a
quick cleanup, though.
These are minor and are clearly part of the memories we are
making on this trip. We are grateful for
the many blessings we have been granted so far.
We are looking forward to what is in store for us over the rest of
summer!
